We went into this project hoping to learn to see typography in two ways: 1) as visual elements in a two-dimensional composition, and 2) as information which represents a hierarchical organization.

Emphasis is on establishing a clear visual hierarchy and exploring compositions that closely adhere to a given modular grid. The studies explore ways to use the modular grid, create alignments both vertically and horizontally. We tried to create tension, explored coding, grouping, and asymmetrical designs. We tried enhancing  hierarchy using typographic color (font-weight, tracking, capitalization), and color or typographic rules (typographic rules = lines).
